LB Najee Goode Visiting Colts; Team Worked Out a Few DBs

NFL: Cincinnati Bengals at Indianapolis Colts Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

According to The Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson, the Indianapolis Colts are trying out linebacker Najee Goode, who’s a familiar face as he played for the franchise recently during the 2018 regular season:

The former 2012 5th round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2012) has also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles (2013-17) and Jacksonville Jaguars organizations (2019).

At 6’0”, 244 pounds, the 31 year old linebacker has appeared in 90 career games (8 starts), recording 107 tackles (79 solo), 5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, an interception, 7 passes defensed, and a fumble recovery.

In 2018 for the Colts, he played in 16 games and had 16 tackles and a pass defensed.

With starters Darius Leonard (groin) and Bobby Okereke (thumb) uncertain for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, the Colts could be looking to bolster their linebacker depth with a veteran player who already knows their defensive system and locker room.

Otherwise, per Wilson, the Colts worked out a number of defensive backs—and a linebacker:

  • Tino Ellis, Cornerback: At 6’1”, 195 pounds, Ellis was waived by the New Orleans Saints in mid-August with an injury designation—having been signed as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Maryland.
  • Akeem King, Cornerback: The 6’1”, 215 pound veteran cornerback was a former 2015 7th round pick of the Atlanta Falcons (2015-16) but has also been a member of the Seattle Seahawks (2017-19) and Buffalo Bills (2020) organizations.

He has appeared in 34 career games (4 starts), recording 39 tackles and 3 passes defensed.

  • Jaylen Watkins, Safety: The 5’11”, 194 pound safety was a 2014 4th round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles (2014, 2015-17), but has also been with the Buffalo Bills (2015), Los Angeles Chargers (2018-19), and Houston Texans (2020).

He has appeared in 50 games (8 starts), recording 85 tackles and 9 passes defensed.

  • Ramik Wilson, Linebacker: The 6’2”, 238 pound linebacker was a former 2015 4th round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs (2015-17), but has also played with the Los Angeles Rams (2018), Jacksonville Jaguars (2019), Arizona Cardinals (2019), and Carolina Panthers (2019).

He has appeared in 46 career games (21 starts), recording 147 tackles (114 solo), 5 passes defensed, an interception, 2 forced fumbles, and 5 fumble recoveries (2 for a touchdown).
