According to The MMQB’s Albert Breer, the Indianapolis Colts worked out a trio of tight ends on Thursday: Nick Fitzgerald, Tyree Jackson, and Cheyenne “C.J.” O’Grady:

The 6’5”, 227 pound Fitzgerald was a former dual-threat quarterback for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, where he completed 145 of 281 passing attempts (51.6%) for 1,767 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions during 12 starts as a senior in 2018.

That same season, Fitzgerald also amassed 1,121 rushing yards on 221 carries (5.1 ypc. avg.) and 13 rushing touchdowns.

He had a 4.64 forty yard dash at the 2019 NFL Combine.

Fitzgerald signed as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019 and later had a stint with the XFL’s St. Louis Battlehawks.

Meanwhile, Tyree Jackson is another former collegiate dual-threat quarterback turned tight end. The 6’7”, 250 pound quarterback for the University of Buffalo converted 225 of 407 passing attempts (55.3%) for 3,131 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions during 14 starts as a junior in 2018.

He also rushed for 161 rushing yards on 55 carries (2.9 ypc. avg.) and 7 rushing touchdowns that season—earning MAC Most Valuable Player, MAC Offensive Player of the Year, and First-Team All-MAC honors respectively.

He had a 4.59 forty time and a 34.5 inch vertical at the 2019 NFL Combine.

He was signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2019 before later spending time with the XFL’s D.C. Defenders.

Lastly, Cheyenne “C.J.” O’Grady is a 6’4”, 256 pound tight end that recorded 33 receptions for 372 receiving yards (11.3 ypr. avg.) and 3 touchdown receptions as a senior for Arkansas during 7 starts during 2019. He was later suspended by the team and eventually stepped away from the program—but has acknowledged his prior immaturity.

He ran a 4.81 forty yard dash at the 2020 NFL Combine.

For the Colts, both veterans Jack Doyle (concussion) and Trey Burton (rest) were full participants in Thursday’s team practice, but Mo Alie-Cox has been playing through a knee injury and was limited again—while Noah Togiai (knee) did not participate.
