The #Colts are re-signing OL Le'Raven Clark, source said.— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) March 20, 2020
The move comes just hours after backup veteran offensive guard Joe Haeg signed a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to help protect newly signed quarterback Tom Brady and compete for a starting job.
Originally a 3rd round pick of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Texas Tech, the long-armed, 6’5”, 311 pound Clark was initially considered a major bust, but filled in serviceably for starting left tackle Anthony Castonzo—when he missed a few games in 2018 because of injury.
The 5th-year pro has appeared in 35 career games (12 starts), but did not appear in a game last season.
Assuming his new deal is a modest deal, re-signing Clark makes sense for the Colts given that he may be the lone veteran backup left in Haeg’s departure—and has the ability to play along the offensive line at multiple positions, including left tackle.
