Colts release new logo, colors and uniforms

The Colts have released a previously mentioned uniform and logo change for the 2020 season and beyond. Here are the details:

But wait, there’s more! Uniform changes:

Ultimately these changes are minor, the biggest coming by way of the new secondary logo and the addition of black to the color palette. The addition of black could mean some interesting things for the color rush uniforms going forward, which is definitely something to be on the lookout for. The wordmark and number updates are subtle but noticeable.

In this humble blogger’s opinion, the team nailed the addition of black to the color palette. Blue has always been and will always be my favorite color (I once convinced my ex-wife to paint the outside of our house Colts-blue, no idea why it didn’t work out) but this is a welcome addition. The change in the numbers and wordmark are nice as well. Both seem more modern, even though the numbers are a throwback to the 1950’s, what’s old is new, I guess.

The one thing I feel they missed the mark on is the new secondary logo. It’s not a great design (sorry to the person who designed it, I’m sure you delivered exactly what was asked of you) and I fear that it’s going to be trotted out on way more merch than anyone would ever want.

With that said the secondary logo doesn’t have a big impact on the jerseys themselves so as long as I don’t have to look at Frank Reich wearing that logo on his hat for 16 games next season, I suppose it’s not so bad.

What do you say, Colts fans? How do these updates look?
