Indianapolis Colts fans—and specifically their 2020 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, running back Edgerrin James, received a tough break on Thursday—as it was announced that this summer’s planned Hall of Fame Enshrinement Weekend in Canton, Ohio, will be postponed until next summer due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns:
As a public health precaution, all events associated with the 2020 Enshrinement Week Powered by @johnsoncontrols have been rescheduled for August 5 – 9, 2021. The Class of 2020 will be honored in a separate ceremony from the Class of 2021.— Pro Football Hall of Fame (@ProFootballHOF) June 25, 2020

However, what initially appears to be a ‘tough break’ at first glance—as James has waited long enough after six years of being on the ballot, may turn out to be an enormous blessing in retrospect.
Specifically, in 2021, James could be enshrined the same Hall of Fame weekend as his legendary former quarterback, first-ballot lock Peyton Manning (who’s first eligible in 2021), as well as potentially his former teammate and fellow Miami Hurricane Reggie Wayne (who didn’t make the final cut in his first year of eligibility in 2020, but was still named one of fifteen modern-era finalists).
Mark your calendars, as August 5-9, 2021, could very well be ‘Colts weekend’ in Canton, Ohio—as two, potentially three former Colts greats will get their golden jackets—with former coaches, execs, teammates, and fans all cheering in attendance.
It could be one for the ages in Colts’ folklore—especially with James and Wayne known to be able to throw a mean ‘Miami style, South Beach’ celebration with the best of them:

Welp, P-Money... Looks like we’ll be going in the HOF around the same time... lol. (Let’s get @reggiewayne_17 in there too, just in case they wanna have a pickup game we’ll have the QB, RB, & WR that already knows the @colts system) lol. “From Gold Teeth to Gold Jacket“ #HOF2020-21
