Both the Indianapolis Colts (2-4) and San Francisco 49ers (2-3) are looking for another victory to keep their playoff hopes alive Sunday night.
Coming off strong, back-to-back performances, Colts’ quarterback Carson Wentz, who has 9 passing touchdowns to just 1 interception through six weeks, looks to take advantage of an average 49ers’ secondary and continue his strong 2021 campaign.
On the flipside, 49ers’ quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo returns to in-game action for the first time in a couple of weeks. He, too, is looking to continue a strong start to the season, as the veteran has 5 passing touchdown and only 2 interceptions.
Both teams will be missing key starters, though. Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams is inactive for San Francisco. As for Indianapolis, they’ll be down both wideout T.Y. Hilton and cornerback Rock Ya-Sin.
Given the kind of impact the weather is expected to have in Sunday’s game, this matchup could come down who can run the ball more effectively in the trenches.
A victory for both teams would be huge as both the Colts and 49ers try to keep pace within their respective divisions.
