The Indianapolis Colts announced on Monday that the team has claimed defensive tackle Khalil Davis off of waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The former 2020 6th round pick of the defending Super Bowl Champions is a listed 6’1”, 308 pounds (with 31 1/2” arms) and should provide Indianapolis with extra interior defensive line depth.
Davis appeared in 2 games for the Bucs during 2020, recording 2 tackles and 2 QB hits.
The 3rd-Team All-Big Ten standout for Nebraska has a few favorable comparisons athletically:
The Colts could potentially use him this upcoming week too against the Baltimore Ravens’ power-heavy rushing attack—although it’ll presumably take Davis some time to get acclimated with his new defensive playbook, scheme, and teammates.
Only 25 years old and having been buried behind a stout Bucs’ defensive tackle group as a backup, perhaps a change of scenery could really do Davis well professionally.
