Mock Draft Face Off Returns! In this series, we will look at mocking viable and realistic options to the Colts each week, and analysing each pick in how they fit the Colts.
Welcome to Mock Draft Face Off with Elliot and Stephen! The off-season is officially here and the NFL draft is arguably the league’s biggest off-season event. Each week we will both be mocking draft picks to the Colts and analysing them. We will now be mocking the first three rounds of picks by the Colts, then building up to include the other rounds and picks as we get closer to the draft.
Elliot’s Round 1 Pick 21

Christian Darrisaw - OT - Virginia Tech
Christian Darrisaw was a three year starter for Virginia Tech having started as a true freshman at left tackle and never looked back. Darrisaw, 6’5 and 314lbs, has the size, the length and the athleticism to excel at the next level. Darrisaw has the ability to start immediately at left tackle in the NFL and would be a perfect replacement for the recently retired Anthony Castonzo. Adding a left tackle like Darrisaw to the Colts offensive line would be perfect as due to his already high level of play and ability the offensive line would likely not miss a beat next season without Castonzo.
Stephen’s Analysis
I love this selection of Christian Darrisaw at 21. There is a realistic opportunity for him to be available and I think he is one of a handful of players that may make Chris Ballard seriously reconsider possibly trading back. Darrisaw could immediately step in at the LT position opened by the retirement of Anthony Castonzo. Darrisaw checks all the boxes when it comes to what a team would want in a long-term option at LT.

Terrace Marshall Jr. - WR - LSU
Since Elliott went with my choice at left tackle, here is a different perspective on a position other than LT, even though Ballard is likely to go LT early.
Terrace Marshall is the big, savvy “other receiver” at LSU in 2019. He’s 6’3”, 200 lbs, which is the size Chris Ballard and Frank Reich like in their wide receivers. Marshall is a red zone nightmare and has the positional flexibility to line up all over the Colts scheme. Putting him opposite Michael Pittman Jr. and with Paris Campbell in the slot will make defense’s pick which WR has a big game. Adding another offensive weapon is key to the Colts offense regardless of whomever the QB ends up being.
Elliot’s Analysis
The Colts are definitely in need of adding offensive play makers to the offensive and drafting Marshall Jr would do exactly that. Marshall ticks a lot of boxes from size, RAC ability and ball skills. Marshall’s most attractive ability would be his versatility in being able to line up across the line in the slot and outside while still be able to consistently make plays. The one factor that might go against him is his poor blocking at times, we know how much Chris Ballard values wide receivers who can block, hopefully he can become more consistent in his blocking. If the Colts do go in the receiver direction in the first round Marshall would be a great pick.
