Any interest here for David Njoku? He could be available.

Just read on Pro Football Talk that David Njoku might hit free agency. Apparently Njoku put out a tweet that sounded a lot like a goodbye to Cleveland. Here’s the tweet " Whatever happens I appreciate all the love from all my loyal fans. I’ve kept quiet for a while but I wanted to express that at least for now. I love U guys ".

Browns have the fifth year option on Njoku’s rookie deal for $6.013 million. But it’s not guaranteed. So the Browns could release him, and save the 6 million against the salary cap. Njoku is 24 years old, talented and athletic. The former first rounder ran a 4.64 forty yard dash pre-draft.

Njoku had 32 catches for 386 in his rookie year of 2017. In 2018 he played in all 16 games, 14 starts. He had 56 catches for 639 yards, and 4 TD’s. In 2019, on week two Njoku concussed and broke his wrist. He went on IR and wasn’t activated until December 7th. My recollection of the play, where Njoku got hurt, was Mayfield held the ball too long and caused Njoku to be laid out by the Dback. In 2020 Njoku missed a month with a knee injury. He was also de emphasized in the Browns offense. He finished with 19 receptions for 213 yards. In the divisional game against KC he caught 4 passes for 59 yards.

So, if Njoku hits free agency, is there any interest in the athletic Njoku? I have always liked him some. He might fill a downfield need for the Colts.
