According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz will consult renowned foot specialist (and orthopedic surgeon) Robert Anderson imminently—whose medical practice is based out of Green Bay, Wisconsin:
All options are on the table, including a minor surgical procedure. The hope is to avoid it, but it’s possible. Either way, if Carson Wentz misses games it’s not likely to be many. https://t.co/Td3c1unuAd

It’s worth noting that Anderson previously performed foot surgery on Kansas City Chiefs’ superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes following this year’s Super Bowl and is considered one of the leaders in his profession.
Wentz had pain in his foot Friday morning, following feeling a ‘twinge’ during Thursday’s practice—and was held out of training camp practice today.
Thereafter, both ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Mike Wells reported that Wentz “was out indefinitely”, while The Athletic’s Zak Keefer reported that the Colts were still trying to determine the full extent of Wentz’s foot injury through further testing.
It seems as though minor foot surgery is a real possibility right now:
More on Wentz from Silver, who notes the #Colts’ early optimism has been dashed. Question now is whether Anderson will recommend surgery to correct the issue or if Wentz can simply rehab. All indications are this isn’t a season-ending scenario, just a threat to the start of it. https://t.co/8diorTPGfz

While it appears that Wentz is at risk of missing at least a few weeks of training camp (and worst case, even the initial start of the regular season), it is encouraging that this presumably won’t be a prolonged absence carrying well into the 2021 campaign.
Or at least that’s the hope.
Fingers crossed.
Update: 8:57 AM: ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Dr. Robert Anderson will review Wentz’s scans and provide his recommendation for the best course of action regarding recovery:
Carson Wentz and the Colts are waiting for Dr. Robert Anderson to review scans of the quarterback’s injured foot, per source. Once Anderson sees the scans, they will have a better idea of how long Wentz will be sidelined. At this time, it is not expected to be season-ending.
