Report: Colts QB Carson Wentz to Consult Renowned Foot Doctor for Injury

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz will consult renowned foot specialist (and orthopedic surgeon) Robert Anderson imminently—whose medical practice is based out of Green Bay, Wisconsin:

It’s worth noting that Anderson previously performed foot surgery on Kansas City Chiefs’ superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes following this year’s Super Bowl and is considered one of the leaders in his profession.

Wentz had pain in his foot Friday morning, following feeling a ‘twinge’ during Thursday’s practice—and was held out of training camp practice today.

Thereafter, both ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Mike Wells reported that Wentz “was out indefinitely”, while The Athletic’s Zak Keefer reported that the Colts were still trying to determine the full extent of Wentz’s foot injury through further testing.

It seems as though minor foot surgery is a real possibility right now:

While it appears that Wentz is at risk of missing at least a few weeks of training camp (and worst case, even the initial start of the regular season), it is encouraging that this presumably won’t be a prolonged absence carrying well into the 2021 campaign.

Or at least that’s the hope.

Fingers crossed.
