Colts Injury Report: Four Starters Miss Practice

The Indianapolis Colts today released their Wednesday injury report for Week 2 of the NFL season ahead of their Sunday game.

Linebacker Darius Leonard missed practice today with an ankle injury. Leonard looked like he had his ankle taped up during the Seahawks game on Sunday and was visibly slower than normal. Hopefully it isn’t a serious ankle injury or it could be a big blow to a defense that needs its playmakers.

Offensive lineman Quenton Nelson missed practice today with foot and back injuries. Nelson missed practice last week with the same injury and the Colts appear to be giving Nelson practice time off to allow the injuries time to settle down. Nelson’s back injury will be one to monitor this year.

Cornerback Xavier Rhodes missed practice today with a calf injury. Rhodes missed all last week practices and Sunday’s game with the calf injury. The Colts sorely missed Rhodes veteran presence in the secondary in Sunday and need him back this week against a very good Rams offense.

Right tackle Braden Smith missed practice today with a foot injury. Smith picked up a foot injury against the Seahawks on Sunday. Smith had a rough performance which was topped off with an injury. Smith will be one to keep an eye on this week but if he can’t play Sunday then back up Matt Pryor will slide in at right tackle.

Left tackle Eric Fisher was limited at practice today. Fisher was limited all last week as he worked his way back from his Achilles injury. Fisher didn’t manage to play on Sunday but after he spoke to the media today it sounds like he could make his debut for the Colts on Sunday.

Defensive ends Al-Quadin Muhammad (ankle), Kwity Paye (hamstring), Kemoko Turay (groin) were all limited at practice today. Muhammad got the start at defensive end on Sunday with Paye but both seem to have picked up injuries. Today missed Sunday’s game with the groin injury so seeing him be limited is progress.
