Honoring #54 Jeff Herrod

Hey, Colts fans of the 1990s before the Peyton Manning era: Who was your favorite player? Some of you will say Eric Dickerson or Jim Harbaugh, but hardcore fans know it should be Jeff Herrod. You might remember him as "ninth-round-draft-pick Jeff Herrod," as he was always referred to, because his dominance was so surprising.

There is a powerful, gritty article about #54 at The Athletic, which might be behind a paywall (I can get to it with my NY Times subscription).

Don't read this article if you don't want to get verklempt ("choked up" for you non-Yiddish speakers or those ignorant of SNL's Coffee Talk with Mike Myers).

I think we should lobby Mr. Irsay to get Jeff Herrod in the Ring of Honor. Hard to think of a more deserving player.
