Take Hendon Hooker in the 2023 Draft

Hendon Hooker fell off the mock draft radar after his injury. But I remember the high ranking he had as the Tennessee Volunteers were winning.

Here is a mock draft from October where Hendon Hooker was the 3rd QB, and the th pick of the mock draft:

Then Hooker tore his ACL in November and everyone forgets that he was playing better football than any other College QB.

For 2022, Hooker had 229-of-329 completed, for 69.6%. He had 27 TD's and 2 interceptions. 313 yards passing. Another 430 yards rushing, for another 5 TD's.

In case you think that was a fluke, for 2021, Hooker was 206-of-303, for 68%. He had 30 TD's and 3 interceptions. 2945 yards. 616 yards rushing, for another 5 TD's.

He is 6'4" tall, 218 lbs. He has good legs and a great arm.

I still think Hooker is likely to be the best QB in the 2023 draft. His ACL injury was repaired and the November injury time allows plenty of time ... he likely will be participating in Training Camp.

I think Hooker will get chosen in the late 1st round. My preferred scenario is for the Colts to trade back with Las Vegas or Carolina, and select Paris Johnson to be the starting Left Tackle. Then trade up to around 1.25, and take Hooker. The OL will be much improved with a high level LT. And Hooker will be the QB that Colts fans want. Excellent arm, and decent running.

The Tennessee offense is not a NFL offense. There is certainly a problem in it inflating some passing numbers. Tennessee was in a few of shoot-outs. Like any QB prospect, he could get to the NFL and be a bust.
